. live in san francisco, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >>> three members and one family died in a weekend fire in east san jose. a couple and their 4-year-old granddaughter were trapped on the upper floor. firefighters arrived in just minutes but the entire building was already engulfed in flames. >> this fire somehow got a really big head start on us. it burned hot and it burned very fast. it consumed most of the apartment even within a three minute response time for us. >> the two victims had lived in the complex for about 20 years. their granddaughter also died. and another family member was reported to be in intensive care. two other people suffered smoke inhalation including a san jose police officer who tried to help those victims. >>> a new health problem for secretary of state hillary clinton. she is in a hospital in new york this morning with a blood clot. her doctors discovered the clot yesterday in a follow-up exam following a concussion she suffered earlier this month. her spokesman says the clot is related to the concussion. but he is not saying where the clot is located. she is b

see traffic moving okay into san francisco. no delays there right now. and a check on the south bay right now, so far, so good northbound 101, 280 also looking good as well as guadalupe parkway. that's a look at traffic. back to you guys. >> thank you. developing news from the southland where cal state fullerton will have classes again today. the campus was locked down for eight hours after a suspect ran to the school following a police chase. the suspect was never found but the lockdown was lifted just before midnight. they were wanted for robbery and shooting from a jewelry store chased through three counties before crashing near the fullerton campus. three suspects were arrested, two still at large. one of them ran into a baseball diamond where the los angeles police chief was at a toy giveaway. that suspect brought dozens of officers there and he surrendered as you can see here. >>> there are some things you should not post online, a lot of stuff. this is one of them. cbs 5 reporter elizabeth wenger is in san francisco with the story of a video that has a police sergeant in hot

and they are looking for three suspects. >>> in san francisco officers say five men, at least one of them armed, terrorized people in a home invasion. it happened on 31 avenue between geary boulevard and lament -- clement street. a neighbor said he heard screams coming from the house. by the time officers arrived the men were gone and they got away with a number of items from the house. >> an armed man police say took two women hostage during an attempted robbery is recovering this morning after being shot by officers. cameras caught the smoke of a concussion grenade fired by police into a jack in the box yesterday. a hostage was rushed to safety by police. the gunman's condition is not known. the incident began at 12:30 when police received a call after robbery in progress. a four hour standoff resulted. the other hostage was also safely released. >>> in concord a grocery store will be open today after being forced to close last night because of a strong chemical smell. it happened at the food max on monument boulevard. the fire department got a call around 4:30 yesterday afternoon about peopl

crashing down early this morning. in san francisco city crews spent this day clearing out clogged drains and the public works department says it's expected to be a weekend long task. you can see one of the biggest rocks actually blocked one of the lanes forcing drivers to slow down and go around it. we have team coverage for you tonight. chief meteorologist bill martin is in the ktvu weather center where he's been tracking the storm all day. maureen naylor is standing by but we begin with jana katsuyama where it's been raining. in healdsburg. >> reporter: see how wet the ground is, all of that water is seeping into the ground and ending up in local rivers and streams this is the russian river. you can see how fast it is going. it could reach near flood levels by the time the next storm finishes. rain is drenching almost soaked roads. areas stream, rivers and low lying areas are flooding. with two storms down there's still one more to go. a storm watch is in effect. >> the storm surge is down 2- 1/2 feet below the bottom of the bridge. >> reporter: although water levels dropped today wit
